SUHR Hydraulic Disc Brakes FAQ

1. Product Basics

Q: What features make your hydraulic disc brake system suitable for downhill bikes?

A: Our hydraulic disc brakes are specifically engineered for high-intensity downhill riding, offering increased braking power, superior heat dissipation, high-temperature-resistant materials, and exceptional stability. They are ideal for extreme riding and challenging descents.

Q: Which downhill bike models and rotor sizes are compatible?

A: Our brakes are compatible with most mainstream DH (Downhill) bikes and support 180mm, 200mm, 203mm, and 220mm rotors. For detailed compatibility, please refer to the product specification page or consult our customer service.

2. Installation & Maintenance

Q: What should I pay attention to during installation? Can I install the brakes myself?

A: We recommend professional installation. Pay attention to hose routing, avoid introducing air into the hydraulic system, ensure calipers are mounted correctly, and adjust rotor clearance. Detailed installation instructions are included with the product.

Q: How do I know when to replace the brake fluid or brake pads?

A: If the brake lever feels spongy, the lever travel increases, or you hear abnormal noises during braking, or if the pad thickness is below the manufacturer’s minimum recommendation, it’s time to replace the brake fluid and pads.

Q: Can I use other brands of mineral oil or DOT fluid?

A: Please use only our recommended proprietary mineral oil. Using incorrect brake fluid may reduce performance or damage the system.

Q: How can I eliminate brake noise?

A: Common causes include contamination of pads or rotors, warped rotors, or misalignment. Clean the rotors and pads with a dedicated brake cleaner, check rotor trueness, and ensure caliper alignment.

Q: Do new brake systems require bedding-in?

A: Yes. After installing new pads, perform 20–30 moderate stops to bed in the pads and rotors for optimal braking performance.

3. Performance & Adjustment

Q: What could cause weak or ineffective braking?

A: Possible causes include aged or aerated brake fluid, severely worn pads, contaminated or deformed rotors, or damaged hoses. Please check and maintain each component accordingly.

Q: Can the brake lever reach be adjusted?

A: Yes, our levers feature tool-free reach adjustment to suit different rider preferences.

Q: Will the brakes suffer from fade on long descents?

A: Our brakes are designed with advanced heat management and high-temperature-resistant materials to minimize brake fade. For prolonged descents, regular maintenance is recommended.

Q: What should I do if the brake lever suddenly feels soft?

A: This may be caused by air in the system or old brake fluid. Bleed the brakes and replace the fluid. If the problem persists, please contact our after-sales service.

Q: How can I check the remaining life of the brake pads?

A: Inspect the pad thickness. Replace pads when thickness is less than 2.5mm.

4. Common Questions

Q: Why do I hear a high-pitched squeal when braking?

A: This may be due to contamination of the pads or rotors, insufficient bedding-in, or misalignment. Clean and re-bed the pads and rotors, and check installation if needed.

Q: Can I replace the pads and rotors myself?

A: Yes. Please refer to the included manual or watch our official maintenance videos to ensure safe and proper replacement.

5. Warranty & After-Sales

Q: What is the warranty period for the hydraulic disc brake system?

A: We offer a 2-year limited warranty (subject to our warranty policy). Damage from misuse and consumable parts are not covered. Please refer to our after-sales policy for details.

Q: Can I purchase spare parts for maintenance?

A: We provide genuine spare parts for DIY replacement of pads, rotors, hoses, and more. To ensure safety and performance, we recommend using original components.

Q: How can I get technical support and after-sales service?

A: You can contact us via our official website, customer service hotline, or authorized dealers. We also offer online support and instructional videos.
